Backbone Trail - California, uSA

The Backbone Trail is a 65-mile route that follows the ridges of Southern California’s Santa Monica Mountains and lies within Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, managed by the National Park Service.  The route is highly varied, featuring the Pacific Ocean shoreline, chaparral-covered hillsides, and shady oak woodlands.  This extensive area of open space offers a dramatic contrast to views of downtown Los Angeles at the eastern end of the trail.
