Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve - Alaska

Nearly 8.5-million-acre Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is the second largest national park in the United States, protecting portions of the wild Brooks Range in northern Alaska.  Entirely above the Arctic Circle, this northern-most US national park is a vast landscape that includes tall mountains, wild rivers, iconic wildlife, and an expansive wilderness.  But it has no roads or trails and is the least visited national park.  Travel on foot can be exhilarating but challenging due to rough terrain, river crossings, and grizzly bears.  Floating the park’s wild rivers is a common way to travel through the area.
