Located on Australia’s Tasmania, the large island to the south, the Overland Track runs 60 miles through spectacular scenery with rare and fascinating plants and animals, including wombats, wallabies, platypuses, large moors of buttongrass, and forests of myrtle, eucalyptus, and King Billy and pencil pines.  Hikers stay in self-service huts or in catered eco-lodges.
