Redwood National and State Parks - California

The story of Redwood is complex, starting with the ancient trees that evolved here and the civilizations that lived in harmony with them for thousands of years.  Then came an intense period of tragedy when native people were displaced and the vast majority of trees were destroyed.  Now, we’re fortunate to be in a period of triumph, where many of the remaining redwood groves are protected and managed in concert with descendants of the original inhabitants.  We recommend and describe several hikes that will allow you to deeply appreciate this park.
