TAHOE RIM TRAIL - California & Nevada, USA

Encircling Lake Tahoe which straddles the California - Nevada border, the TRT runs for 165 miles through High Sierra scenery. Lake Tahoe is roughly 12 miles wide by 22 miles long and is 1,600 feet deep. It’s possible to walk the trail as a series of day hikes, but most through-hikers backpack; in either event, hikers enjoy seeing parts of this impressive region that most of Lake Tahoe’s many visitors don’t appreciate.

The Tahoe Rim Trail runs through the granite peaks and high mountain lakes of the Desolation Wilderness, thought by many to be the most beautiful section of the trail.
