Theodore Roosevelt National Park - North Dakota
Come to North Dakota and celebrate the triumph of American conservation, embodied in this off-the-beaten-track national park named in honor of Theodore Roosevelt, widely regarded as the “conservation president”. Calling on his formative early years on his ranch in North Dakota, he went on to set aside more than 200 million acres of public lands as national parks and other conservation areas during his presidency. The park is comprised of rugged and dramatic badlands deeply eroded over millions of years, a section of the Little Missouri River, and iconic wildlife such as bison, elk, cougars, feral horses, and prairie dogs. We recommend and describe several hikes that will allow you to deeply appreciate this park.
