Virgin Islands National Park - US Virgin Islands
This park occupies much of the island of Saint John in the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea. The park features mountains, subtropical forests, beaches, mangroves, coral reefs, and colorful undersea life, and preserves much of the history and prehistory of the island. Several of the park’s beaches, including Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Honeymoon Beach, Hawksnest Bay, Maho Bay, and Salt Pond Bay are considered some of the most beautiful in the world. Popular recreation activities include boating, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. The park’s short trail system leads through tropical forests; to waterfalls, beaches, and observation points; and to historic areas such as the ruins of sugar mills and petroglyph sites. There’s even an underwater trail for snorkeling along a coral reef in Trunk Bay.
