Yellowstone is a tribute to America’s distinctive philosophy of democracy, owned equally by all citizens. And what a powerhouse of a national park, including the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, great geyser basins, Yellowstone Lake, several mountain ranges, and world-famous megafauna including grizzly bears, elk, wolves and bison. Grand Prismatic Spring is just one of the dramatic thermal features of Yellowstone. Here the bright colors are caused by a variety of algae and bacteria adapted to extremely high temperatures.
